What appeals to most people are the symmetry and simplicity of the designs, the use of natural materials and the warmth of the colours. However, not to be underestimated is that antique Japanese tansu are highly functional. Most often they can be found in dining rooms, sitting rooms, bedrooms or offices where they are still being put to good use. In any case, tansu will bring an element of sophistication and personality to any interior.
After working out of our private gallery and organising exhibitions, we moved in 2000 into a gallery in the centre of Antwerp and then in 2008 to the Sablon neighbourhood in Brussels which is open to the wide public at all times.
Our main objective remains to offer tansu of undisputable quality with only a minimum or no restauration at all. This has resulted in a unique collection of top-range pieces covering all main styles such as isho-dansu, mizuya-dansu, futon-dansu, kaidan-dansu, kuruma-dansu, etc. from the Edo and Meiji periods.
We gladly invite you to browse through our online catalogue and discover with us the beauty of antique Japanese furniture. We also hope to welcome you to our gallery in the near future.
